Yesterday, one of my computers became infected with the Security Shield virus, an annoying virus that pops up security warning messages. Here's how I got rid of it.
Computer Virus's come in all sorts of nasty shapes and sizes and the latest one to make itself at home on my computer was the Security Shield computer virus.
The virus looks like a genuine security warning, informing you of several different threats on your computer, all bogus of course. The call to action is to click on the purchase button and purchase the software via the 'remove all threats now' link.
Do not do this as you will be giving your payment details to criminals.
The virus is at this stage benign which means it's not that harmful to your computer, yet! But it stops functionality to lots of different functions and programs and is very annoying.
While looking for a solutiuon online I came across the video below which gives you all the information you need to delete the Security Shield virus and restore your computed to full functionality.
The way I removed the virus was to perform a full scan using Microsoft Security Essentials, the free software detected the virus and removed it.
If you need security software on your computer then I highly recommend using Microsoft Security Essentials, you can download it free from here:
