In this article, you will learn 13 methods to make your landing pages convert. The better it converts, the more prospects you get. The more prospects you get, the more sales you can eventually make.
Here are the 13 methods to use on every landing page you create:
Know who you’re talking to
On your landing page, you’re speaking directly to the wants and needs of your audience. Who are your audience? And what do they want? Conducting proper research will help you get to know your audience to construct compelling copy that speaks to them directly.
Keep it simple
Do you remember those cluttered business cards or newspaper ads from start-up businesses? They have so much information, you don’t know what to look at first.
The same thing applies to landing pages, and it takes skill and discipline to make them clean and simple. You have around 3 seconds to capture attention and hold it, so the cleaner the page the better. Share enough for visitors to take immediate action to avoid losing sign-ups.
Split-test
From experience, I know few people split-test even though it’s easy to do. Split testing is having two versions of the same landing page to see which one converts better.
Split-test every element of your page one at a time. Repeatedly. Use Google Website Optimizer and test your headlines, colours, fonts, graphics, form, and opt-in button to test and craft a converting landing page.
Focus attention on the headline
When you look at newspapers, your eye is drawn to the headline, and everything flows from there. Do the same with your landing page.
Constructing a compelling headline includes highlighting the benefits to your audience. There are different headline frameworks you can use and it’s good practice to understand these frameworks rather than relying on AI.

Consistency is key
Keep your copy congruent and consistent. In other words, don’t use a headline extolling the benefits of weight loss and then use bullet points about the benefits of exercise unless it’s in direct relation to weight loss.
Keep everything consistent from the headline to the PS line or you’ll confuse and lose your prospects.
Match your landing page to your sales page
Again, we are talking about congruency. If your sales page is for a product that teaches traffic generation strategies, then your landing page should refer to traffic generation strategies. This might sound basic, but it’s surprising how many times I’ve gone from a landing page on one topic to a sales page on something different.
It’s particularly important to incorporate congruency as an Affiliate marketer to see your sales increase.
Sell the benefits
Remember, you’re not selling a drill, you’re selling holes. You’re not selling steak, you’re selling the sizzle, the taste and the satisfaction.
Do the same with your landing pages, while keeping things transparent and honest.
Forget what you think
Test and measure everything. Even if you think you’ve found the perfect headline, the magic bullets and just the right colour scheme. It doesn’t matter what you think – it matters what converts the best. See #3.
Think “above the fold.”
The term “above the fold” refers to newspaper days where top stories can be read while the paper is folded in half.
With your landing page “above the fold” is the area displayed on the screen without scrolling. An effective landing page has everything from the headline to the call to action above the fold.
Below the fold can include additional information if required.
Tell them what to do
Your visitors landed on your landing page because they were looking for something. Your instructions whether video or written need to be simple and clear. Make it clear what they will get and what they need to do to get it.
A good tip is if you’re using a video, demonstrate the process of signing up, this mitigates many objections people sometimes have.
Colour matters
Use opposing colours on the colour wheel to create contrast, and then test, test, test. Yes, some colors really will convert better than others but it depends on your offer and your audience, so you’ve got to test it for yourself.
Social proof
Social proof is a powerful concept to convert more leads.
Use short, 1 sentence testimonials. Display your logo, certification, etc. Place your contact info at the bottom of the page. If you’ve been in business for years, state how many. If you’ve won awards, place those on there as well. Don’t clutter your page with this info, but do make it available.
Ask
Perhaps the best landing page trick, outside of testing, is to ASK your audience a question that they must answer with a YES!
- “Do You Want to Look 10 Years Younger?”
- “Are You Ready to Build Your List 10 Times Faster?”
- “Do You Want To Be Irresistible to Women?”
Strategically placing these on your website puts them in a “YES!” frame of mind, making them more likely to opt into your list.
