As an Affiliate marketer, you’re going to be reviewing affiliate products and sending people to an affiliate page. Here are 5 ways to capture attention and get your audience seriously interested in purchasing the product you’re promoting.
#1. Take them on a journey with screen capture video
I have found that video is the most effective way to communicate your message. Using screen capture software allows you to take your audience on a journey. Show your audience the product and what it does, demonstrate the features and benefits, and what it can do for them.
Show them what happens when they click your links and take them through the process. This will help them visualise being on the page and buying the product.
There are lots of paid and free screen capture apps available. My choice is Camtasia.
#2. Use a benefit image
Selling and promotion is all about communicating features and benefits. Depending on the product, use an image that clearly shows the benefit.
One great example I saw recently, was a before and after image for men’s eye cream. Visually this works much better than a video, but both complement each other.
#3. Use product pictures
Personally, with digital products I’m a huge fan of box shots and merchandising, if you click here you’ll see a pop-up of my Roadmap course to see an example.
With affiliate products, you should have access to product shots supplied by the vendor. You can find these on the affiliate or JV page. If images are not available, you can use a tool called Snagit to capture the screen OR click the WINDOWS + SHIFT + C buttons on your keyboard to copy your computer screen.
Affiliate marketing is not just reserved for digital products. If it’s a physical product, you can use images to visually describe and explain the product. My advice is only to use the best quality product images you can find.
#4. Promoting affiliate products – show the data
Taking screenshots and/or incorporating the data into your video can help your presentation. Are there tables or charts on the sales page or are there stats that people can relate to? One great tip I learned was to show the refund policy on the vendors’ page. It may seem a little bland but showing this can reassure your audience of their options if they want to refund.
#5. Social proof
Social proof is so important these days. The vendor could have pop-ups on the sales page showing when people purchase, I’m sure you’ve seen them. These are subtle reminders that others are making the decision to purchase and can work well in a video. Social proof can also be demonstrated with screenshot testimonials. Using Facebook or other social media is good for this and they are more genuine and instantly recognisable to most people.
Conclusion
People are highly visual, so the more you can do to get them to see themselves using the products, the easier it will be for them to decide to purchase.
Be congruent throughout. Does your landing page match the vendors’ sales page? Headlines and taglines should all flow with each other. If you are making a video, ensure the video complements the images, and the images complement the video.
The most important thing to remember is to demonstrate the features and benefits and avoid exaggerated claims or overstated vocabulary. Remember, as an Affiliate Marketer, you do the demonstration, the sales page does the selling.
